A GOOD SPEAKER IS ALWAYS TAKEN SERIOUSLY.
IN COMMUNICATION, MOST OF THE TIMES, WE ARE THINKING OF CONVEYING SOMETHING BUT ARE NOT ACTUALLY DELIVERING IT. HERE ARE A FEW POINTS WHICH CAN BE KEPT IN MIND DURING A BUSINESS CONVERSATION.
- During a talk, hold back interrupting someone, learn to subtly take your own notes and frame a comprehensive response rather than give a knee jerk reaction. Hold your thoughts and build a response.
- Whenever there is a difference of opinion, we attribute the discomfort to what has been said by someone - as a result of not meeting a need of your that need to be fulfiled.
- Communicate with the person positively. If need be, shift the focus from accusation to ownership of responsiblity. For example, When yo said this, I felt you did not respect my views. So I believe that what you actually want is more prepartion frim my side, which I will definitely keep in mind. This could lead to healthy conclusion of an argumentative discussion.
- While receiving a feedback, accept it on a positive note and also acknowledge it. The giver feels validated and there is a cohesion of opinion and unison of cause towords a common goal.
